Larry Mitchell

Larry Mitchell has been involved in martial arts of one form or another for 30 years. As a teenager, He studied San Ku Kai Karate. Later at Vanier College in Montreal, He studied Judo under Akio Nakamura.

He joined the Canadian Armed Forces with an appointment to RRMC in Victoria, BC. He majored in Physics. There, he studied western fencing (foil, epee, and saber) and Judo. As part of his Infantry Officer training, he attended various unarmed combat courses.

After transferring to the Canadian Forces Reserve, he attended Concordia University in Montreal and studied Computer Science. While there, he also trained in Chito Ryu and Tae Kwon Do Karate.

After moving to Toronto, he trained in the Bujinkan and traveled to Japan and Israel for training.

At the same time he studied Chinese martial arts as a personal student under Master Pan Qing Fu and then later as a personal student under Guro Nonoy Gallano in Classical Kali Escrima.

Becoming disillusioned with the Bujinkan, he sought out and was accepted as a student under Soke Shoto Tanemura in the Genbukan.

He actively trains in Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu (Sugino-ha)

Larry Mitchell has worked in the high technology industry for 20 years for many of the Fortune 500 companies at senior technical levels. Currently he runs his own consulting company specializing in exotic software technology architectures.
